--------------------- CO/SESSION(tm) MAIN MENU DESCRIPTION -----------------
The CO/SESSION Main Menu consists of three submenu choices and five
directly available functions. All menu choices, including the Main
Menu, are made by pressing the function key, on the left-hand side
of the keyboard, associated with the function you want to perform or
the submenu you want to access. In all of the CO/SESSION menus, you
may press the <Esc> key to stop the current CO/SESSION function and
return to the calling level. <F10> also exits all menus, including
this Main Menu.
While in an active remote access/monitoring session at the SUPPORT
machine, you may use the keystroke combinations: <Ctrl><Alt><F> to
allow the APPLICATION machine to run full-speed; <Ctrl><Alt><S> to
force the APPLICATION machine to run in a synchronized, slower speed
to insure the SUPPORT screen is displaying everything the APPLICATION
screen is displaying; or <Ctrl><Alt><R> to force a redraw of the
SUPPORT screen from the APPLICATION screen.
This on-line HELP facility is context sensitive. So, depending where
you are in CO/SESSION when you invoke the HELP, you will get the
description of the current submenu and/or function.
The three submenus on the CO/SESSION Main Menu give you access to the
following functions:
<F2> <F3> <F8>
COMMUNICATIONS FILE SUPPORT
----------------------- --------------------- --------------------------
-Call -XMODEM Send File -Suspend/Resume
-Wait For Call -XMODEM Receive File -Billing Log
-Add or Change Call ID -Change Directory -Change Type
Parameters -Display Directory -Record Screens/Sessions
-Add Call ID -Display File -Playback Screens/Sessions
-Delete Call ID -Delete File -Time Display
-Change Call ID -Rename/Move File -Define Configuration
-Copy Call ID -Copy File Settings
-APPLICATION Keyboard
Enable/Disable
-Print Functions
-Turn-Off Printing
-Activate Printing
-Activate Spooling
-Print Spool File
For the Main Menu, the five functions available directly are:
<F1> - Connect To Default Call ID You choose this function to
--------------------------------- start a dial-out connection to
the CO/SESSION user you have defined in the Configuration Settings
as your default Call ID. If you have not defined a default Call ID,
you will be prompted for the telephone number to dial. If you give
the number of another CO/SESSION system, that system must have
the CO/SESSION Password Protection disabled as no login/password
is sent when you start a call without a Call ID.
<F4> - Terminal Mode You choose this function after you have made
-------------------- a TTY terminal connection with another
system and have left the TTY terminal screen to execute local
programs but stayed connected. This function gets you back to the
TTY terminal screen.
<F5> - Keyboard Conversation You choose this function while con-
---------------------------- nected to another CO/SESSION machine
in order to engage in a keyboard "conversation" with the other
CO/SESSION user. Two "windows" are set-up on each of your displays
to allow each of you to separately see what you are typing and what
the other user is typing.
<F6> - Disconnect/Hangup You choose this function to disconnect from
------------------------ a current CO/SESSION or TTY terminal
connection; also to reset the modem from auto-answer, wait dial-in
to disconnect; or to reset a direct-cable, waiting-login to
disconnect.
<F7> - Voice/Data Toggle You choose this function when you are using
------------------------ Hayes modems or Hayes compatible modems
which support the ability to toggle back and forth between voice mode
and data mode. Using this function with the appropriate modem, you
may make voice contact with the remote user, then return back to the
data mode connection.
======SPHONENBR========
--------------------- CO/SESSION Manual Dial ------------------------------
You either have selected <F1> from the Main Menu without having a
default Call ID defined; or <F1> from the Communications Menu and
you have no Call IDs defined in your "phone directory". You are
prompted for a phone number to dial. If you have defined the special
Call ID "DEFAULT", then DEFAULT's telephone number, if any, is
provided as a default. You may accept it by pressing <Enter>, or
enter any number you wish. You may use "-" for readability, and
"," for pauses.
The dial-out is done using the parameters of the special Call ID
"DEFAULT", if you have defined it, otherwise the dial-out uses the
system defaults of Port 1, Modem type Hayes, Terminal type CO/SESSION,
Baud rate 1200.
Upon connection, the login/password from "DEFAULT" will be used,
otherwise no login/password is sent. If the remote machine is a
CO/SESSION machine with Password Protection enabled, then the dial-in
will fail unless you have a login/password defined in "DEFAULT" which
matches a login/password in the Call ID directory of the remote
CO/SESSION machine.
Upon making a successful connection, your system is automatically
placed into the appropriate CO/SESSION state; if you are a SUPPORT,
your screen is updated with the APPLICATION system screen; if you are
the APPLICATION, you are returned to what you were doing when you
invoked CO/SESSION; and if you are making a TTY terminal
connection, your screen goes to the CO/SESSION TTY terminal
screen.
Messages on the status line keep you informed as to the progress and
success of the connection attempt.
============STERMMODE============
------------------------------ <F4> Terminal Mode --------------------------
In the terminal mode screen, you are functioning as a TTY terminal
to the non-CO/SESSION system to which you are connected. Characters
which you type at the keyboard are transmitted to the remote system
to which you are connected "as is" in their ASCII format. However,
CO/SESSION does provide some features to enhance the terminal mode.
If the characters you are typing do not appear on your screen, and you
are in full-duplex (FDX), use the <F7> function key to toggle to
half-duplex (HDX). In HDX mode, what you type is both reflected on
your screen and transmitted to the remote system. If you see double
characters for each character you type, and you are in HDX, use the
<F7> function key to toggle to FDX.
If you notice that the data you are receiving from the remote system is
double spacing (a blank line between lines), or not creating a line-feed
for each new line, you may use the <F3> function key to control whether
CO/SESSION will insert a line-feed or not for each end-of-line detected.
You may want to capture all information going to the screen and write
the received data to a file. You use the <F5> function key in order
to activate the disk capture function. Upon pressing <F5>, if you
are activating disk capture, you are prompted for the name of the
file to store the captured receive data. You may specify any file
name including a disk drive specifier and directory path. Disk
capture is turned-off when you exit the terminal mode screen via
<Esc> or <F10>, or if you press <F5> when disk capture is already
active, or if the other-end disconnects.
Data on the terminal mode screen will scroll up when you get to the
bottom of the screen. However, at any time you may clear the screen
by pressing the <F1> function key.
The first line of the bottom portion of the terminal mode screen
displays the current status of the insert-line-feed, disk-capture,
and duplex states.
=======SATCHAT==========
------------------------- <F5> - Keyboard Conversation ---------------------
You select this function when you want to engage in a "conversation"
with the remote user via the keyboard.
Two "window" sections are displayed, one for echoing what you type
at the keyboard, and one for displaying what the remote user is typing.
What you type is echoed in your window, and displayed on the remote
machine's display screen in the remote window.
You may both type simultaneously, and either may terminate the keyboard
conversation by pressing the <F10> function key. Data displayed is
scrolled in each window, so that the last six or so lines of typed
information for each of you remains displayed.
You may press the <F1> function key if you want to clear your
"conversation" window on both machines.
=======SAVCHAT==========
------------------------ <F7> - Voice/Data Toggle ----------------------------
You select this function when you want to converse with the remote
user via voice using telephones connected to the modem or to the
same line as the modem. If you are already in a voice mode, you
press the <F7> function key to use this function to return to the
data mode.
Upon pressing the <F7> function key, the remote user is informed about
your desire to establish voice contact. The remote user may reject the
request, and either way you are informed as to how the remote user
responded. If the remote user rejected the request, or was not present
to acknowledge it, you may retry repeatedly by pressing the <F7>
function key.
If the remote user accepts the voice establishment request, each of
you are prompted as to the steps necessary to accomplish it.
CO/SESSION will set up the modems at each end so that the data
transmission tones are turned-off. When this is done CO/SESSION
will request each end to pick up the telephone handsets and then press
a key to tell CO/SESSION to complete the modem turn-off. At this point
no data transmission is possible with the remote CO/SESSION machine,
but you may carry-on a normal telephone conversation, and continue to
use the computer.
If already in voice mode, both you and the remote must execute this
function in order to return the modem to normal use for data
transmission, so you must both agree and coordinate verbally to do so.
When you are both ready, CO/SESSION will prompt you to each press any
key so that it can begin the modem turn-on sequence. When each of you
hear the modem connection tones, you "hang-up" the telephone handsets
to return to normal data transmission mode.
=======CMENU======
---------------- <F2> - CO/SESSION COMMUNICATION MENU DESCRIPTION-----------
The CO/SESSION Communication Menu provides functions for managing
connections with other CO/SESSION based IBM and compatible computers,
as well as making TTY ASCII terminal emulation connections to any
Host computer. Functions are provided for starting a dial-out or
direct connection to another CO/SESSION or non-CO/SESSION computer;
for putting your modem in an auto-answer, "background" dial-in wait
state so your machine is ready to respond to a dial-in connection
attempt; and for managing a disk file "phone directory" of Call IDs
and their associated communication parameters and login/passwords for
security.
The functions available directly via the Communications Menu are:
<F1> - Call You choose this function when you want to start a dial-
----------- out or direct connection attempt to another CO/SESSION
or non-CO/SESSION system. You first select the Call ID to which you
want to connect and then press the <F1> function key. The remote
CO/SESSION machine must be in the auto-answer, "background" wait
dial-in state, and it must be of the opposite CO/SESSION type of
your machine, that is, if you are type APPLICATION, the remote
CO/SESSION machine must be type SUPPORT. If the Call ID specifies
TTY terminal type then it does not matter what CO/SESSION type
you are.
<F2> - Wait For Call You choose this function when you want to put
-------------------- your modem into an auto-answer, "background"
dial-in wait state. You first select the Call ID whose port
parameters you want to use for initializing the port/modem and then
press the <F2> function key.
Messages on the status line keep you informed as to the progress
and success of setting up the "auto-answer", dial-in wait state.
Whether successful or unsuccessful, you get control back and may
execute other CO/SESSION functions or return to your application.
When a successful dial-in occurs, you are informed via a "pop-up"
window on your display.
You may cancel an existing auto-answer, wait dial-in state by using
the <F6> function, Disconnect/Hangup, on the Main Menu.
<F3> - Add Or Change Call ID Parameters You choose this function
--------------------------------------- in order to access the
associated submenu where you are presented with functions for
Adding, Deleting, Changing, or Copying Call IDs in your "phone
directory" disk file.
=========SCREVM=========
------------ <F2><F3> - CO/SESSION CHANGE CALL ID PARAMETERS MENU-----------
You select this communication subfunction menu when you want to do
maintenance on your Call ID "phone directory" disk file. Four functions
are available:
<F1> - Add You choose this function when you want to add a new
---------- Call ID to your "phone directory" disk file. You will
be prompted for the Call ID name and then presented with the
parameter screen and allowed to define the new parameters.
<F2> - Delete You choose this function when you want to delete an
------------- existing Call ID from your "phone directory" disk file.
Select the Call ID you want to delete, then press the <F2> function
key. You will be presented with the Call ID's parameters and
prompted as to whether this is the Call ID you want to delete.
<F3> - Change You choose this function when you want to change one
------------- or more parameters of an existing Call ID in your
"phone directory" disk file. Select the Call ID you want to change,
then press the <F3> function key. You will be presented with the
Call ID's parameters and allowed to edit them.
<F4> - Copy You choose this function when you want to copy the
----------- parameters of an existing Call ID from your "phone
directory" disk file to a new Call ID entry. This is useful as a
way of saving typing when creating Call IDs with similar parameters.
Select the Call ID you want to copy, then press the <F4> function
key. You will be prompted for the new Call ID name to copy to and
then allowed to edit the copied parameters.
========SCADDR=======
--------- <F2>/<F3>/<F1> - CO/SESSION CHANGE CALL ID PARAMETERS - Add -------
You choose this function when you want to add a new Call ID to your
"phone directory" disk file.
You are prompted for the Call ID of the new remote to be added.
CO/SESSION checks to see if it already exists in the file, and if not,
then presents the parameter screen to you to define the new parameters.
========SCCOPYR=======
-------- <F2>/<F3>/<F4> - CO/SESSION CHANGE CALL ID PARAMETERS - Copy --------
You choose this function when you want to copy the parameters of an
existing Call ID to a new Call ID in your "phone directory" disk file.
You are prompted for the Call ID of the new remote to be added.
CO/SESSION checks to see if it already exists in the file, and if not,
then presents the parameter screen to you to define the new parameters.
========SCDELR=======
-------- <F2>/<F3>/<F2> - CO/SESSION CHANGE CALL ID PARAMETERS - Delete ------
You choose this function when you want to delete a Call ID from your
"phone directory" disk file.
You are asked to verify that the Call ID whose parameter screen is
displayed is the Call ID you want to delete. If you respond with "Y"
or "y", the Call ID's parameters are deleted, and the "phone directory"
disk file is packed to free up the disk space used.
========SCRPARMS==========
-----------------------CO/SESSION CALL ID PARAMETERS ------------------------
The first part of the parameter screen contains the information
required for defining log-in/password information as well as the
telephone number of the remote CO/SESSION or non-CO/SESSION machine.
In addition, there is a description field where you may enter optional
text that further describes the Call ID.
The second part of the parameter screen contains the port parameter
information.
When working in the Password/Login portion of the parameter screen,
the title line for that portion is highlighted. You enter information
to each field then terminate the field input by pressing the <Enter>
key. You may move around within the Password/Login portion of the
parameter screen by using the arrow cursor control keys. You may edit
existing information by typing over it, by using the <Del> key to
delete the character under the cursor, or the <BackSpace> key to
delete the character to the left of the cursor.
By pressing the <Enter> key or the <DownArrow> key at the last field
of the Password/Login portion of the parameter screen, you move to
the Port Parameters portion of the parameter screen.
When working in the Port Parameters portion of the parameter screen,
the title line for its portion of the screen is highlighted. You
press the letter associated with a particular parameter, in order
to cycle through the available choices. For example, each time you
press the <B> key the baud rate will cycle through its available options
of 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and back to 300, and so on. You may
press the <F1> key to return back to the Password/Login portion of
the parameter screen. Press <F10> to quit and save the current
definitions, or press <Esc> key to quit without saving the parameters.
The Password/Login information consists of the following fields:
-Description: this field is a text field used by you to contain a
brief description of who the Call ID is;
-Telephone Number: this field contains the telephone number of the
remote CO/SESSION or non-CO/SESSION machine; you must specify all
the required digits necessary to dial the remote machine from your
location; these may include 1-areacode-number, ";" for 2 second
pauses, "-" for readability;
-Your Login ID: this field defines the ID that your CO/SESSION machine
will send to the remote CO/SESSION machine if you are initiating
the connection; not used if making a TTY terminal connection;
-Your Password: this field defines the password that your CO/SESSION
machine will send to the remote CO/SESSION machine if you are
initiating the connection; not used if making a TTY terminal
connection;
-Remote Login ID: this field defines a valid ID that you will accept
on a connection attempt to your machine when in wait dial-in state;
not used if making a TTY terminal connection;
-Remote Password: this field defines a valid password for the
associated remote login ID that you expect when the associated
remote login ID makes a connection attempt to your machine when in
wait dial-in state; not used if making a TTY terminal connection;
For two CO/SESSION machines to successfully connect, if Password
Protection is to be used, the users at each must cooperate in defining
the login IDs and passwords. For example, you would define a login ID
and password in the "Your Login ID" and "Your Password" fields for
the Call ID of the remote user to which you will initiate connections,
whereas the remote user would define the same login ID and password
information in his "Remote Login ID" and "Remote Password" fields of
the Call ID entry for you in his "phone directory" file.
Only the login IDs and passwords are exchanged between machines and
must be coordinated between users. The Call IDs are local only and
can be any ID that is easy for you to associate with your specific
remote users.
============FMENU=========
------------- <F3> - CO/SESSION FILE FUNCTIONS MENU DESCRIPTION-----------
The CO/SESSION File Functions Menu provides various functions for
controlling files.
Functions are provided for:
- changing the current directory on the local or remote system;
- displaying local or remote file directory contents;
- displaying local or remote files;
- deleting local or remote files with optional verification;
- renaming and/or moving local or remote files within the same drive;
- copying files with the source and destination files being either
local or remote; copies between local and remote computers are done
with a 16-bit CRC, incorporating retransmissions for detected
errors, assuring a virtual error free copy of binary or text files;
- XMODEM send and receive for file transfer with non-CO/SESSION
systems.
All the file functions support full or relative path and disk drive
specifications as well as global "wildcard" specifications using the
'*' or '?' characters. You reference files on the remote computer by
prefixing the full or relative path/file name with the characters "R!",
shorthand for "Remote". For example, the specification "R!\futil.exe"
refers to a utility executable program in the root directory of the
current active disk drive on the remote computer.
The functions available directly via the File Functions menu are:
<F1> - XMODEM Send File You choose this function when you are con-
----------------------- nected to a non-CO/SESSION system in a
TTY terminal mode in order to send a file to the non-CO/SESSION
system using the XMODEM protocol.
<F2> - XMODEM Receive File You choose this function when you are
-------------------------- connected to a non-CO/SESSION system in
a TTY terminal mode in order to receive a file from the
non-CO/SESSION system using the XMODEM protocol.
<F3> - Change Directory You choose this function when you want to
----------------------- change the current directory on the current
default or other drive of either the local or remote CO/SESSION
computer.
<F4> - Display File Directory You choose this function when you want
----------------------------- to view a file directory on either the
local or remote CO/SESSION computer. Directory display information is
similar to the normal DOS directory display. Actions are available
to control the speed of the display.
<F5> - Display File You choose this function when you want to view
------------------- one or more local or remote files. Actions are
available to control the speed of the display.
<F6> - Delete File You choose this function when you want to delete
------------------ one or more local or remote files. There is an
optional verification prompt before deleting each file.
<F7> - Rename/Move File You choose this function when you want to
----------------------- rename a single file or move a single file
to an optionally different directory on the same disk drive volume
on either the local or remote CO/SESSION computer.
<F8> - Copy File You choose this function when you want to copy one
---------------- or more files locally, remotely, or between the
local and remote CO/SESSION computers.
============SXMDMSND============
------------------ <F3><F1> FILE Functions - XMODEM Send File -------------------
In the terminal mode screen, you are functioning as a TTY terminal
to the non-CO/SESSION system to which you are connected. However,
CO/SESSION does provide some features to enhance the terminal mode.
After you make a TTY terminal connection with a non-CO/SESSION
system, you may exit the terminal mode screen in order to use the
XMODEM send/receive functions to exchange files with the non-
CO/SESSION system. You may then return to the terminal mode screen
via the <F4> function on the CO/SESSION Main Menu.
You choose this function when you want to send one file to the
remote non-CO/SESSION system using the industry standard XMODEM
protocol. However, unlike the file copy function between CO/SESSION
systems, you must closely coordinate the file transfer with the
remote user when using XMODEM.
When you press <F1>, you are prompted for the name of the file to
send. You may respond by specifying a file name with no path, with
a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator.
However, you may NOT use the global "wildcard" ('*' or '?') characters.
If you want to send more than one file, you must do it in separate
operations.
Once you specify the file name and the file send begins, the remote user
must set up his system for XMODEM receive within approximately three (3)
minutes, otherwise the transfer is terminated.
During the transmission to the remote system, several values are
displayed. These values are the number of bytes transmitted, the
percent of the file transmitted, total transmission errors, and retries
due to error for the current block. With these values it is easy to
follow the progress of the file transmission.
At any time during the file send, it may be terminated by pressing the
<Esc> key.
============SXMDMRCV============
------------------ <F3><F2> FILE Functions - XMODEM Receive File -------------------
In the terminal mode screen, you are functioning as a TTY terminal
to the non-CO/SESSION system to which you are connected. However,
CO/SESSION does provide some features to enhance the terminal mode.
You choose this function when you want to receive one file from the
remote non-CO/SESSION system using the industry standard XMODEM
protocol. However, unlike the file copy function between CO/SESSION
systems, you must closely coordinate the file transfer with the
remote user when using XMODEM.
When you press <F2>, you are prompted for the name of the file to
receive. You may respond by specifying a file name with no path, with
a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator.
If you give a file name that already exists, you are prompted as
to whether you want to overwrite it. If you respond with "Y", the
received file will replace the existing file. If you want to receive
more than one file, you must do it in separate operations.
Once you specify the file name and the file receive begins, the remote
user must set up his system for XMODEM send within approximately
three (3) minutes, otherwise the transfer is terminated.
During the reception from the remote system, several values are
displayed. These values are the number of bytes received, the
total transmission errors, and retries due to error for the current
block. With these values it is easy to follow the progress of the
file reception.
At any time during the file receive, it may be terminated by pressing
the <Esc> key. Any partially received file is removed.
============SCHGDIR============

You choose this function when you want to change the current directory
on either the local or remote CO/SESSION computer for a specified
disk drive.
When you press <F3>, the current default directory on the local system,
and if you have a connection with a remote system, the default
directory on the remote system, is displayed. You are then prompted
for the name of the directory to change. You may precede the new
directory name you are specifying with "R!" in order to change the
default directory on the remote computer.
============SFDDIR============
---------------- <F3><F4> FILE Functions - Display File Directory ------------
You choose this function when you want to view a file directory on
either the local or remote CO/SESSION computer. Directory display
information is similar to the normal DOS directory display.
When you press <F4>, you are prompted for the name of the directory
to display. You may respond by just pressing the <Enter> key in order
to view the current working directory. Alternatively, you may specify
a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator, and
you may use the global "wildcard" ('*' or '?') characters or a single
file name to view a subset of the directory.
Any of the options above may be preceded by "R!" in order to view a
directory from the remote computer file.
While the directory is displaying, you may cause it to pause by pressing
the <Space> bar on the keyboard, and then resume the display by pressing
the <Space> bar again. In addition, you may speed-up the display by
pressing a number key <0> through <4>, or slow-down the display by
pressing a number key <5> through <9>. At any time, you may terminate
the display by pressing the <Esc> key.
============SFDFILE============
------------------ <F3><F5> FILE Functions - Display File -------------------
You choose this function when you want to view one or more local or
remote files.
When you press <F2>, you are prompted for the name of the file to
display. You may respond by specifying a file name with no path, with
a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator, and
you may use the global "wildcard" ('*' or '?') characters to view
more than one file.
Any of the options above may be preceded by "R!" in order to view one
or more files from the remote computer file.
While a file is displaying, you may cause it to pause by pressing
the <Space> bar on the keyboard, and then resume the display by
pressing the <Space> bar again. In addition, you may speed-up the
display by pressing a number key <0> through <4>, or slow-down the
display by pressing a number key <5> through <9>. There is an
automatic display pause between files when displaying more than one
file. At any time, you may terminate the display by pressing the
<Esc> key.
============SFDLFILE============
------------------ <F3><F6> FILE Functions - Delete File -------------------
You choose this function when you want to delete one or more local or
remote files.
When you press <F6>, you are prompted for the name of the file to
delete. You may respond by specifying a file name with no path, with
a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator, and
you may use global "wildcard" ('*' or '?') characters to delete more
than one file.
Any of the options above may be preceded by "R!" in order to delete
one or more files from the remote computer file.
After entering the file delete specification, you are prompted by
CO/SESSION as to whether you want verification before deleting a file.
If you respond with a 'Y', CO/SESSION prompts you for an affirmative
response before deleting a file. At any time, you may terminate the
file deletion process by pressing the <Esc> key.
============SFRFILE============
------------------ <F3><F7> FILE Functions - Rename/Move File -------------------
You choose this function when you want to rename a file and/or move it
to another directory on the same disk drive volume.
When you press <F7>, you are prompted for the name of the file to
rename/move. You may respond by specifying a file name with no path,
with a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator.
Next, you are prompted for the new name of the file. You may specify
a full or relative path, on the same disk drive volume, in order to
move the file to another directory.
Any of the options above may be preceded by "R!" in order to
rename/move the file on the remote computer.
============SFXFILE============
------------------ <F3><F8> FILE Functions - Copy File -------------------
You choose this function when you want to copy one or more files,
locally, remotely, or between the local and remote computers.
When you press <F8>, you are prompted for the name of the SOURCE file
to copy. You may respond by specifying a file name with no path, with
a full or relative path, with or without a disk drive designator, and
you may use the global "wildcard" ('*' or '?') characters.
Next you are prompted for the name of the DESTINATION file. If you
used global "wildcard" ('*' or '?') characters in the SOURCE file
specification, a DESTINATION directory name is required.
Any of the options above may be preceded by "R!" in order to define
the SOURCE or DESTINATION or both as remote.
If both the SOURCE and DESTINATION are remote, the copy command is
sent to the remote computer to carry out the copy there as a local copy.
If only one of the SOURCE and DESTINATION is remote, that is, a file
transfer between the local and remote computer, several values are
displayed during the file copy. These values are the number of bytes
transmitted, the percent of the file transmitted, total transmission
errors, and retries due to error for the current block. With these
values it is easy to follow the progress of the file copy between
the local and remote computer.
At any time during a file copy, it may be terminated by pressing the

------------- <F8> - CO/SESSION SUPPORT FUNCTIONS MENU DESCRIPTION----------
The CO/SESSION SUPPORT Functions Menu provides various functions
for enhancing the capability and flexibility of the CO/SESSION
SUPPORT user.
Functions are provided for:
-suspending and resuming the remote access/monitoring function while
maintaining the connection;
-billing log feature for updating a billing log file with connection
information;
-recording entire support sessions or individual screen images;
-playback of recorded support sessions or saved screens;
-enabling or disabling the time-of-day and elapsed connection time
display in the upper right-hand corner of the display screen;
-defining default configuration settings for CO/SESSION operation;
-enabling/disabling the APPLICATION machine keyboard to prevent a
local user from disturbing the APPLICATION machine during a
remote access/monitor session;
-remote print/spool feature.
The functions available directly via the Support Functions Menu are:
<F1> - Suspend/Resume You choose this function to suspend a remote
--------------------- access/monitoring session when you are the
SUPPORT user in order to get local control back to your system.
When you exit CO/SESSION, control returns to the point where you
were when the last connection or resume occurred. When ready to
resume the remote access/monitoring of the APPLICATION, use this
function again to toggle the state.
<F2> - Billing Log You use this function to activate or inactivate
------------------ the CO/SESSION billing log feature. When
activated, a record is written to the billing log disk file at
the conclusion of each SUPPORT connection. Information logged is
the SUPPORT User's initials, Call ID, description, phone number,
direction, date, time, end-time, elapsed-time.
<F3> - Change Type You use this function when in an inactive,
------------------ disconnect state in order to switch between
an APPLICATION user and SUPPORT user CO/SESSION type.
<F4> - Record Screens/Sessions You use this function when in an
------------------------------ active remote access/monitoring
state to save individual screens to sequentially numbered disk
files or record the session to a numbered disk file.
<F5> - Playback Screens/Sessions You use this function to review
-------------------------------- the previously saved, sequentially
numbered screen image files, or to playback a previously recorded
support session.
<F6> - Enable/Disable Time Display You choose this function when
---------------------------------- you want to enable or disable
the display of the current time-of-day and elapsed connect time in
the upper right-hand corner of the display screen.

------------------------------------ modify the current default
configuration settings for CO/SESSION's operation.
<F8> - APPLICATION Keyboard Enable/Disable You choose this function
------------------------------------------ when you are the SUPPORT
user to enable or disable the APPLICATION machines keyboard. If
disabled, whenever the APPLICATION user tries to use the keyboard,
a notification "pop-up" message indicates the keyboard is disabled.
<F9> - Print Functions You choose this function to set the print
---------------------- mode for the SUPPORT machine. This is
coordinated with whether the APPLICATION machine is down-loading
print data. If the application machine is down-loading print data
to your SUPPORT machine, you use this function to set-up to ignore
the print data, or print it when received, or spool it to a file.
======SABLOG==========
---------------- <F8><F2> SUPPORT Function - Billing Log ------------
You select this function when you want to activate or inactivate
CO/SESSION's billing log function. If the billing log is currently
active, pressing <F2> is interpreted as inactivate. However, you
are asked to verify that you want to inactivate the billing log.
If you respond "Y", the billing log file is closed, and billing
logging is inactivated.
If the billing log is currently inactive, you are prompted for the
name of the file where the billing log data will be written. You
are presented with a default name which you may accept by pressing
the <Enter> key, or you may edit the name to use a different one.
If the file name exists, you are informed that the billing data will
be appended to the existing file.
No path information is accepted for the file name, since the file
will be saved in the CO/SESSION directory and drive that you specified
when CO/SESSION was installed.
After the file name, you are prompted for your initials which are
saved as the current CO/SESSION SUPPORT operator. Subsequently, at
the conclusion of each SUPPORT connection, when the billing log is
active, a record will be written to the billing log file. However,
before writing the record, the SUPPORT operator, at the conclusion
of the call, will be given the opportunity to edit the operator ID,
the Call ID, and the Call ID description via prompts on the screen.
The billing log record is an ASCII text record and contains the
operator ID initials, Call ID, Call ID description, phone number,
direction of the call, date, start-time, end-time, and elapsed time.
The billing log file may be printed, displayed, or edited by any
word processor that can handle ASCII text files.

connection attempts from other CO/SESSION machines; add the special
Call ID named "DEFAULT" if you want to override the system default
port parameters of 1200 Baud, Port 1, Modem type Hayes, Terminal

-Color Monitor Scan Speed: if FAST mode, there may be "inter-
ference snow" on the APPLICATION's color monitor display caused
by the CO/SESSION screen check function; in SLOW mode, there is
virtually no "interference snow" but screen checking is slower

display windows; if OFF, the beeper is not used;
-Standard Default Call ID: you may specify an existing Call ID as
your default for initiating connections using the <F1> function
key on the Main Menu;
-Password Protection Checking: if YES, then all dial-in attempts must
supply a login and password which matches an entry in the Call ID
table for the dial-in to succeed; if NO, then no login or password
is required for the dial-in to succeed;
-Reboot APPLICATION On SUPPORT Hangup: if YES, if the SUPPORT machine
causes the disconnect, then the APPLICATION machine will auto-
